Presented by Dr. Julia Aguirre
Culturally Responsive Mathematics Teaching (CRMT) is an approach to mathematics instruction that promotes empathy and justice inside and outside the classroom. In this interactive session, participants will engage with mathematics tasks/routines that act as a mirror and a lens for children and youth. In addition, a CRMT instructional design tool that promotes simultaneous attention to children’s knowledges and Identities; instructional rigor and supports; and issues of power and participation in the classroom will be shared. Participants will leave ready to assess instruction (e.g. lessons, assessments, curriculum) with a CRMT lens.
